Hey Academics,
I posted to my blog about the song "Hotel California," since I brought it up at the Academy the other night. Hope you find it fun to read. :) Just follow the link in the subject line.

Two Irreconcilable Worldviews
Clicking on the the title above will take you to a post by Al Mohler on Darwinism and Christianity. I think it fits with our science topic this month.

A true church
Hello all, this is actually an email worth reading...hopefully...
I was talking to a fella here at work today about Brian McLaren and Pagitt and the emerging crowd. He attends Norman Community and seems to be pretty involved and leads one of their groups.
Anyways, I asked him if he had heard of Pagitt and McLaren and said he had heard of McLaren's A Generous Orthodoxy but didn't know anything about the movement. To make a long email short, I was telling him about some of their teachings and about their view that the church should conform to culture and right and wrong.
He said he doesn't understand how one can discount certain critical issues like hell and Jesus being the only way, and the Bible being trustworthy.
So moving on, looking back to Thursday night, are we saying that the lack of a true pastor-teacher leads its followers to lack a true understanding of what a church is? Can a church be structured differently than the traditional American church and still be true to the Bible? If so, what can change and what not?
Hope my babbling is coherent to someone who is not wife, because I know its not to her.
